Fortunato has designed and built well over one hundred million dollars in aerospace projects. This sequence of photographs, while only a fraction of Fortunato’s total aerospace effort, illustrate the firm’s commitment to the aerospace industry.

Long Island MacArthur Airport
Aerospace Avionics
Faced with an extraordinary deadline, Fortunato designed and built the 90,000 square foot world headquarters for Aerospace Avionics (pictured above) in less than 12 months. Fortunato was honored by Aerospace Avionics with their Outstanding Achievement Award.

Federal Aviation Administration
Fortunato was engaged as the major contractor to participate in the upgrading of the Northeast Regional Traffic Control System. This multi billion dollar program provide a safe environment for air travelers well into the 21st century.

Grumman Plant 03, Bethpage, Long Island
A vivid demonstration of Fortunato’s capabilities in building high technology projects can be found in the successful completion of Grumman Aircraft’s Chromic Acid Facility, located in Bethpage, Long Island. Fortunato’s efforts on this project were recognizes with Grumman’s “Making It Happen” Award for building excellence.

Grumman Chromic Acid Facility
In order to provide sufficient depth to contain the anodizing chemical tanks used in the vast subsurface concrete structures build by Fortunato, it was necessary to “underpin” the entire south wall of the plant 03 Anodize Line.

THE WORLD OF THE F-14 FIGHTER
This series of photographs illustrates Fortunato’s design-build capabilities in the area of high tech facilities. The top two photos show the exterior and lobby of the engineering nerve center for the development of Grumman’s F-14 Fighter. Upon completion of the engineering center, Fortunato was commissioned to design and build the huge assembly and laboratory facilities for the F-14 at the Naval Weapons Center at Calverton, Long Island. As planes passed the rigid navy flight test, they were flown to their assigned destinations throughout the world.
