Restoration is arguably the most interesting work Fortunato does. One gains a tremendous sense of satisfaction when buildings that are in need of restoration, either due to damage or age, have been given back their former glory. Restoration is careful, painstaking work that can only be accomplished by a handful of companies: the integrity of existing architectural decisions must be balanced with present day construction techniques. But the results are well worth the effort when new generations use and enjoy the work of generations past. |

This church had been ravaged by fire. Not much more than a shell was left. The roof above the altar, shown here, had burned clear through to the outside. However, after months of laborious restoration, Fortunato was able to bring this church back for the people to whom it means so much.

The Objective of this project, located in Long Island’s Historic East End, is similar to that of many restoration projects; rejuvenate the building so that it is fully functional, but make certain its aesthetic integrity is maintained. Fortunato succeeded, on both counts.
